Dr. Somayaji is currently Assistant Professor in the School of Computer
Science at Carleton University and is Associate Director of the Carleton
University Computer Security Laboratory. His research interests are
in the areas of Operating System Security, Intrusion Detection, Complex
Adaptive Systems and Artificial Life. Dr. Somayaji has been successful
in developing a biologically-inspired intrusion prevention system,
pH, which monitors and automatically reacts to changes in program
behaviour and which can effectively respond to security threats and
system errors with minimal user configuration and interaction. The
technology underlying pH also forms the basis of Sana Security, a
Silicon-Valley start-up founded by Anil's former collaborator, Steven
Hofmeyr.
