Imran Mirza, Senior Director

Topic: Secure Channel - Building Common Services
Mr. Mirza is currently the Senior Director for Secure Channel within
Public Works and Government Services Canada, and he is responsible
for providing strategic leadership in the development and implementation
of public key infrastructure systems to ensure secure communications
between the Canadian public and federal government departments and
agencies. Mr. Mirza is a former Navy Commander, with specialization
in Combat Systems Engineering (CSE). He held various positions in
Her Majesty's Canadian Ships. Mr. Mirza established and lead the strategic
direction section in Defence Information Services Organization, and
lead a Canadian Forces team in three Joint Warrior Interoperability
Information Management and communication exercises with the US, NATO
and the Pacific Rim Allies. He spent several years in industry, managing
commercial and government projects such as Materiel Acquisition and
Support Information System project, an implementation of SAP for the
Army, Navy, and the Air Force. He was responsible for overseeing the
development of the Defence Enterprise Architecture within the Materiel
Branch. He later assumed the role of the Internet authority and the
National Defence Government On-line program manager. He is a graduate
of Carleton University in Mathematics with a minor in Psychology;
he is also a graduate of Technical University of Nova Scotia Electrical
Engineering Naval Combat Systems programme and has a Master's degree
in Software Systems Engineering from Boston University.
