The Cost of Non-Conformance
In October 2004, Ms. Carman was appointed Chief Information Officer
for Industry Canada. As CIO, she will focus on strengthening the department's
governance of IM/IT and enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency
of service delivery. Ms Carman joined Industry Canada in March 2003
as Associate Assistant Deputy Minister in the Spectrum, Information
Technologies and Telecommunications Sector. Between 1993 and 2003
Ms. Carman worked on assignments at the Privy Council Office and Environment
Canada. Ms. Carman is a recognized operational manager after many
years experience at Health Canada and was the first Canadian to sit
as a member of the Regulatory Advisory Board of the Center for Medicines
Research of the U.K. She is a champion for Aboriginal Peoples and
Canadian Women In Communications, within Industry Canada. Ms. Carman
is a member of the Board for the Institute of Connectivity for the
Americas.
